GET CRAFTY WITH OUR HOME MADE FRUIT SYRUPS

Syrups are a great in many ways and a Crafty way to achieve preservation, Cocktails or even liqueurs. Being as Crafty as possible with our environmental impact is one of our core ethos, that’s why if we are foraging for cocktail ingredients or even using the discarded peels these handy recipes should help get the most out of your ingredients. When making cocktails, especially for larger dinner parties, the time it takes on the night is just too great to be able to spend time with your guests. Pre-preparing syrups means you can put out quality cocktails with ease on the night. These syrups should last a couple of weeks at least in the fridge.

If you want to go one stage further you can also add 350ml of syrup with 350ml of your favourite Crafty Distillery spirit to create a bottle of bespoke and high quality gin or vodka liqueurs at 20%abv which will be shelf stable for years! With our quality spirit and your fresh syrups you will never need to buy another “Gin Liqueur” again.


GRAPEFRUIT OLEO SACCHARUM
• Peel the skin of 4 grapefruit and place in a bowl
• Spread 100g sugar over the peel
• Cover and leave for 24hours
• Strain liquid and pour into a pipette bottle


ELDERFLOWER CORDIAL
• Create simple syrup by combining 500g sugar with 300ml water and heat in a
 pan until clear
• Add 20-30 elderflower heads & infuse for 24 hours
• Add 25ml of Lemon Oleo Saccharum
• Strain through muslin cloth
• Pour into empty Bottle
  

LEMON SIMPLE SYRUP
• Create simple syrup by combining 500g sugar with 300ml water and heat in a pan until clear
• Peel approximately 10-14 lemons discarding the peel (you can use the peel to make Oleo Saccharum)
• Blend fruit in blender
• Strain through muslin cloth
• Combine with simple syrup and pour into empty bottle


POMEGRANATE & CHERRY SIMPLE SYRUP
• Create simple syrup by combining 500g sugar with 300ml water and heat in a pan until clear
• Add 250g Cherries de-pipped
• Add 80g pomegranate seeds
• Blend fruit
• Strain through muslin cloth
• Combine with simple syrup and pour into empty bottle


STRAWBERRY & BLACK PEPPER SIMPLE SYRUP
• Create simple syrup by combining 500g sugar with 300ml water and heat in a pan until clear
• Add 400g fresh strawberries, stems removed
• Add 10g black peppercorns
• Blend fruit and pepper in blender
• Strain through muslin cloth
• Combine with simple syrup and pour into empty bottle


LIME & MINT SIMPLE SYRUP
• Create simple syrup by combining 500g sugar with 300ml water and heat in a pan until clear
• Peel approximately 12-18 limes discarding the peel (you can use the peel to make Oleo Saccharum)
• Add 50g mint
• Blend fruit and mint in blender
• Strain through muslin cloth
• Combine with simple syrup and pour into empty bottle


GRAPEFRUIT & ELDERFLOWER SIMPLE SYRUP
• Create simple syrup by combining 500g sugar with 300ml water and heat in a pan until clear
• Peel approximately 6-8 grapefruit discarding the peel (you can use the peel to make Oleo Saccharum)
• Add 100ml elderflower cordial
• Blend fruit
• Strain through muslin cloth
• Combine with simple syrup and pour into empty bottle
